Which animal is best? What is the tastiest food? Which job is the coolest? All of these questions were answered after we counted up the votes for the annual Apple School elections! The kids in all of the classes had their chance to feel what it is like to be a voter as they filled out their voting sheet, stocked it in the ballot box, and counted up the results towards the end of the day.We voted, did you?

We received this gift after winning the “Home-away-from-home” award for Best Preschool by Winnie.com. We appreciate the Ethan’s family for sending us this gift and we loved that you sent a gift that was so perfectly fitting to the Apple School by sending us some delicious Apples to nibble on. We love our Apple School families for being the very best and we could not win this award without our amazing families sending us the most extraordinary kids we could ask for.

Lifeguard at the Apple School!!! Today, Van Nuys Sherman Oaks Park and Los Angeles City Lifeguard Isaiah Sanchez stopped by the Apple School to talk to the kids about pool and water safety! Isaiah visited Apple School in his full uniform along with his many tools for work, which had the kids rethinking their ideas for Halloween costumes. Isaiah talked to the kids about what a lifeguard does, how to swim safely in public pools, and showed the kids what equipment is used for conducting safety drills. Isaiah had plenty of volunteers try on goggles, perform proper swimming techniques, and performed a safety exercise with the kids. The kids had a blast as their minds are still fresh from swimming in pools all of last season and Isaiah’s visit took us all back to the wonderful 2018 summer season. We appreciate Isaiah’s visit to the Apple School and he assured us he will be back next Summer for more water fun! Thank you Isaiah Sanchez for being part of the Apple School family and community!
We have had a great week of fabulous guests here at the Apple School! We had Master Theresa Lee from Karate 4 Kids USA come visit the Apple School to perform a martial arts class with the kids! She had the kids doing so many interesting poses and moves that the kids did not want to sit down,not even for a second! Theresa had the kids learn all of the poses needed to be successful at martial arts, they performed various kicks and blocks needed for self defense, and had fun doing great movement games to benefit their bodies. Aside from performing an amazingly fun class with the kids, Theresa was a great role model for them as well as she showed qualities of discipline, strength, and happiness for the kids to learn more from. We look forward to having Theresa come back to our school soon and are even considering having her join the Apple School family as our weekly Martial Arts Instructor! We thank Theresa for making the time to visit the Apple School and we encourage you all to check out Karate 4 Kids USA!
Thank you to the Lifeway Kefir Brand for sending the Apple School kids some deliciously yummy flavored Kefir to try! Lifeway is a Kefir brand with the purpose of providing a tasty and healthy snack for its customers. Kefir offers healthy gut bacteria and probiotics and the Lifeway brand has been making a new kids version called “Probugs” which they sent over to the Apple School for the kids to taste for themselves. They sent 4 different flavors, stickers, napkins, and some awesome magnet clips to take home. The kids enjoyed the “Probugs” during their snack time and we wanted to send our biggest thanks to Lifeway for making this happen. The Apple School kids love “Probugs”. A healthy educated brain needs a nutritious snack to keep it going and that’s what Lifeway helped provide our Apple School children. We look forward to staying in touch with them!

A BIG THANK YOU to Doctor Jill Lasky and her hygienist Lizette of Lasky Pediatric Dental Group for coming to Apple School and doing a demonstration with the kids about the health of our teeth! Dr. Lasky and Lizette were so kind and gracious to stop by the Apple School on Thursday to talk to the kids about healthy food for our teeth, how to brush properly, and how to maintain a beautifully healthy smile! Dr. Lasky had all the kids practice brushing on her plastic toy teeth that she brought for the class. She had the kids name all of the properties of our teeth that were useful to know such as molars (back teeth), gums, and incisors (front teeth). The kids were so patient and full of questions for Dr. Lasky. They were so excited to practice brushing the fake teeth that Dr. Lasky brought and they were full of laughter when they were picked to do a demonstration for the whole class! It was a great experience for everyone involved and we are so happy that the kids were able to meet a real dentist and listen to what she had to say! At the end of their visit, Dr. Lasky handed us two huge bags full of toothbrushes for the kids to take home! We thank Dr. Jill Lasky and Lizette for being so wonderful with our kids and for being such great members in our Apple School community. We encourage you to visit the Lasky Pediatric Dental Group for any of you child’s teeth needs and look forward to inviting them back in the future for another demonstration!
