What a CINCO DE MAYO celebration at the Apple School!

By |May 10th, 2018|Apple School Gallery, our news|Comments Off on What a CINCO DE MAYO celebration at the Apple School!

The kids had been learning about the meaning and story behind CINCO DE MAYO and had been talking about Spanish culture during their Spanish language lessons throughout the week. After learning about the holiday, the kids were able to feast on some yummy Mexican style food during our “Taco Luncheon!” The kids made chicken tacos and dressed it up anyway they wanted whether it be with salsa, guacamole, and plenty more toppings. The kids got to try a Mexican specialty, “Horchata”, to wash down the delicious food they were eating. The kids had a great time learning about the Mexican heritage from their teachers and participating in something that made them feel the things that they had been learning about all week! We look forward to many more celebrations like this. Happy Cinco De Mayo from the Apple Schhol!

By |May 9th, 2018|Apple School Gallery, our news|Comments Off on TEACHER APPRECIATION DAY at APPLE SCHOOL

A big thank you to all of the Apple School families who participated in making our Teachers Appreciation Day something to love and remember! A special thank you to the incredible moms who came to the Apple School to set up a lunch for the entire staff and take on the teachers role of taking care of the kids while the teachers got to enjoy a scrumptious Porto’s Bakery lunch. The moms were so enthusiastic about the idea of being with the kids just as the teachers do, and as much as the moms seemed to love the experience, it is safe to say that they were incredibly happy to have the teachers return from their lunch to relieve the parents of their duties. Every teacher left work that day with their own “Thank you for Teaching” coffee mugs courtesy of all the families who participated in creating such a memorable day. We thank all of our families who participated in making this day so great. We appreciate your togetherness, your love, and your continued support of all that we do. A special shout out to the moms who took on the teacher’s jobs during the teacher lunch: IRA LERNER (Natalie’s mom) who leaded the group of parents and organized such a wonderful day, Ami (Jalyn’s mom), Dagnia (Masha’s mom), Ella (Artem’s mom), Julia (Ilana/Isabelle mom), Marina (Ivanka’s mom), Marianna( Gabriella’s mom), Gretchen (Violet’s mom), Olya (Simona’s mom), Yulya (Pauline’s mom), Ilana (Benjamin’s mom), Yana (Maya’s mom). Dear Parents, we appreciate your appreciation!!!

The Apple School Garden is being tended to by the Red and Green Apples classes!

By |May 9th, 2018|Apple School Gallery, our news|Comments Off on The Apple School Garden is being tended to by the Red and Green Apples classes!

These kids have been busy working on growing their tomato’s and taking good care of their plants. We are so excited to watch these kids take on the responsibility of maintaining such an important job and are confident they are going to enjoy it every step of the way.

In honor of the start of our Apple School Garden project, all of our classes have been working on beautiful artworks and crafts that represent their view of the garden. From making their own tomato, garden sign, or fence each class had their own unique touch of celebrating the beginning of our garden season! We love and thank our students and teachers for their passion in something that is so wonderful and beneficial to all. Welcome, Apple School Garden!

The Apple School Garden is here.

By |May 8th, 2018|Apple School Gallery, our news|Comments Off on The Apple School Garden is here.

The Apple School Garden is here. It has been quite the journey but we are so excited to introduce our first crop that we are growing: The Tomato! We are growing Beef master Tomato’s and Cherry Tomato’s this season as our introduction into gardening and this beautiful spring season. Every class has their own section to tend to and they are all color coordinated to fit each classroom! The kids have been watering the plants 3 times per week and have been monitoring the process of growth each time they visit the garden with Alex! The kids have been excited to see the final product and can’t wait to bite into something that they are growing themselves! We are so thankful to our amazing parents Ira and James (Natalie’s parents) who helped create the garden with us and have been incredible every step of the way. Ira, James, and Sasha have put in a lot of effort in creating this garden that will benefit our awesome Apple School children now and for years to come. We are so excited for the creation of the Apple School Garden knowing that it will not only be beneficial in the our school’s approach to knowledge on nature and sustainability but it also creates a bond of growth between the plants we grow and the philosophy of our school “Give us a seed, we will grow an apple”.

How we celebrated Passover at APPLE SCHOOL!

By |April 18th, 2018|Apple School Gallery, our news|Comments Off on How we celebrated Passover at APPLE SCHOOL!

What a wonderful way to celebrate the special holiday like our incredible Green Apple class. Our wonderful parent Lena (Liam and Liroy’s mom) came to the Apple School to make Matzo with the kids. Lena started the yummy process by explaining the meaning of Passover and talking about the traditional foods to eat during the holiday. She also showed the kids a great educational video about the special time. Lena had the kids start the Matzo making process by having each child individually put their hands in a bowl with Matzo meal and water and start the mixing process. The kids felt like little chefs! Lena took the dough that the kids made with her to put in her oven later at home but brought the kids an already made Matzo along with Elijah’s cup that was filled with grape juice to show the custom during Passover. Lena did a great job of giving the kids a great feel for the way Passover is celebrated and the kids cant wait to have her back to do more fantastic hands on projects! Lena also brought the Apple School Passover goodies which we appreciate so much. Thank you Lena for your time and commitment to the Apple School and giving the kids such a wonderful learning experience! As always, we encourage all parents to spend time with us here at the Apple School to bring some of your knowledge and creativity and share it at your child’s class!

The Apple School Pajama Party on Incredible Kid Day was a blast for all the kids to enjoy! The kids flocked to school with smiles from ear to ear strutting their favorite pajamas with designs like superhero’s, unicorns, and Disney characters. All the kids were comparing pajamas and walking around like they were models in a fashion show. The classes got busy with pajama making activities like custom pajama decorating and coloring! During snack time, the kids enjoyed a yummy assortment of fruits and snacks provided by the parents and Apple School. We appreciate all the parents help in getting the kids ready for Pajama Day and look forward to many more fun filled activities like this throughout the year!

A big Thank You to Irina Oransky (Alexis’ mom) for coming to Apple School and doing a fantastic Valentines Day project with the Red Apple kids!

By |March 24th, 2018|Apple School Gallery, our news|Comments Off on A big Thank You to Irina Oransky (Alexis’ mom) for coming to Apple School and doing a fantastic Valentines Day project with the Red Apple kids!

Ira and the kids made funny and decorative heart shaped faces with foam stickers and the kids had an absolute blast! Each child got to create their own unique heart shaped face to show in front of the whole class and to take home for their friends and family to see. Ira did a great job explaining all the steps and pieces to the kids and the kids loved doing the project with her. At the end of the project, Ira and Alexis handed out Valentines Day candy and treats for the kids to take home with them which got the kids in an even more ecstatic mood! The Red Apple kids cant wait to have Ira come back and do another wonderful project with them. We appreciate Ira taking the time to spend the loving mood of Valentines Day with the Apple School kids! As always we encourage all parents to come in and spend time with your child in their classroom by doing a project, a lesson about something important to you, or by giving the kids a description of your job and the work you do. Warm wishes, big hugs, and lots of love from the Apple School!

What a wonderful performance from the Apple School’s Red Apple class at the Sherman Oaks Rehabilitation Center!

What a wonderful performance from the Apple School’s Red Apple class at the Sherman Oaks Rehabilitation Center! The kids delivered a heartfelt performance for the often forgotten elderly at the center and had them all clapping and smiling from ear to ear to see these incredible kids sing and dance for them. In the audience were the amazing parents of the kids who took time to bring the kids for the show and the center’s staff members who also got a moment of delight in the middle of their busy day of working with patients all day long. It was truly a blissful experience for all who were there to view it and really filled the room with the love and care.
